Scamozzi, The Idea Of A Universal Architecture

The Northern Italian architect Vincenzo Scamozzi (1548-1616) completed a comprehensive study of ancient classical architecture, including the possibilities for its application in a modern context. All the rage during the Golden Age in the Netherlands, his treatises were highly influential, for example in the construction of buildings on the canal belt in Amsterdam. Published for the first time in English, this fourth volume of his treatises is lavishly illustrated with drawings and examines the ideas of architectural orders and their application.
